10 learning points on HTML

The ten learning points of html are:

1) HTML was invented in 1980 by Tim Berners-Lee and there are many versions of HTML to date such as the creation of html 2.0 in 1995.

2) HTML helps to build web pages and it is probably the most used around the world and the latest version is HTML5.

3)HTML is a markup language. A markup language is a set of markup tags. The tags describe document content. HTML documents contain HTML tags and plain text. HTML documents are also called web pages.

4)HTML was created by World Wide Web Consortium and WHATWG.

5)"HTML tags" and "HTML elements" are often used to describe the same thing. But strictly speaking, an HTML element is everything between the start tag and the end tag, including the tags.

6) HTML tags normally come in pairs like <b> and </b>The first tag in a pair is the start tag, the second tag is the end tag. The end tag is written like the start tag, with a forward slash before the tag name. Start and end tags are also called opening tags and closing tags.

7) HTML consists of CSS which helps to design the HTML file.

8)The head comprises of the title while the body comprises of the webpage's URL, wordings and an optional picture.

9) It mainly uses angle brackets to add graphics, visuals, media and stuff to the webpage. It usually comes in pairs and they contain keywords surrounded by angle brackets. E.g. <html> </html>, <body> </body>.

10) HTML can be edited by Adobe Dreamweave, Microsoft Expression Web and Coffeecup HTML Editor. If you want to learn hw to do it, use a notepad.

If you want to read and acknowledge more about HTML, pls proceed to this website.

infocomm project

Infocomm Project

Hi guys!

Today, I am going to share with you guys my infocomm project. The project is basically about web-publishing and the meaning of FTP. Please click this link to view the Google Drive ppt presentation my group had done. Hope you will enjoy it!

From this project, I learnt how to publish a website properly without any mistake and the five steps to publish a website. All the five steps are essential for web-publishing and any flaw will cause an unsuccessful publish. I also learnt from this project that FTP means file transfer protcol. FTP works in the same way as HTTP for transferring Web pages from a server to a users browser.

This kind of project is really helpful as not only do we learn new things, it also allow us to exercise teamwork and bond relationships between one another.

57 slides learning points

From the 57 slides, I have learnt:

First of all, I learnt about the difference about slow and high-speed connection. The slow-speed connection needs to be established when you log on the computer while the high-speed connection do not need that. However, slow-speed connection is cheaper. Most of us uses high-speed connection as we are able to afford the high-speed connection as the price is also quite low and easier for us to use, which includes wireless and satellite modems.

Secondly, I have also learnt what is a domain name. It is the text version of IP address, which is the number that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the internet. I think this is very beneficial as it is easier to find who is online and who is not.

Everyday we use websites and almost every website we type in contains "WWW". 3 "w"s? What does that means? Before I read about the 57 slides, I did not know, and I did not care. It is actually World Wide Web! So simple! And now I know a lifetime experience: Always check what you do not know or not sure.It is not tedious or troublesome. You will feel it is meaning. This goes the same way as "URL", which means Uniform Resource Locator.

I also learnt the easy ways to  remember links, such as that the pointer change int a hand or the link is a image or underlined word. I found this extremely useful as it makes it easier to find the link and go to the page we would like to explore. Such ideas can also be used in our daily life, such as putting attractive and colourful pictures to show the rules we need to obey in any part of the school.

I can be sure  that the search engine is the most useful helper in the whole computer system. It help us to search for the information we want that is posted all over the world! Also we no longer need to ask our friends which website we need to go to to search to that particular small piece of information. The example of these websites are google, yahoo and wikipedia.

I also learnt what is a portal. It is a website which a variety of services from one. It has a convenient location, and is usually free. What it helps is basically similar to my fifth point. However this kind is for searching mainly on news weather and email, which has minor differences with my fifth point.

When everyone can publish their opinions and points, we can get a alternative answer and different opinions, which make social communication better and more fun as we can not only get the information, we can also chat with one another and even make friend across the world!

I have also learnt to be creative and try to mix relevant things together to make a new and more convenient one. The example is the creator of E-Mail. He thought of normal mail, which takes at least a day to send to the person you want to say something to, and the sending need manpower and money. So why not we make a free one on the computer? And he created E-mail, which really makes our lives so much easier.

I also learnt how the E-mail message travels. This is really what I did not know before reding the 57 slides. The whole process is essential and any missing part will cause the whole message to be unsent. The person who created this must have spend a lot of time and experiments, I really thank him for his selfless act which made our lives so much easier. THANK YOU!

Lastly, I learnt the meaning of FTP,which I never touched on that before. It is basically the short form of file transfer protocol. It allows us to share our document with each other and thus can help one another which is very helpful.

web 2.0

WEB-2.0

Web 2.0 websites allow users to do more than just retrieve information. By increasing what was already possible in "Web 1.0", they provide the user with more user-interface, software and storage facilities, all through their browser. This has been called "network as platform" computing. Major features of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, user created web sites, self-publishing platforms, tagging, and social bookmarking. Users can provide the data that is on a Web 2.0 site and exercise some control over that data.

I have learnt that using Web 2.0 allows users to interact and collaborate with each other in a social media dialogue as creators of user-generated content in a virtual community, in contrast to websites where people are limited to the passive viewing of content. Examples of Web 2.0 include social networking sites, blogs, wikis, video sharing sites, hosted services and many more!
I think web 2 .o is really a good creation as not only do they allow us to retrieve informations o the web, it also allows users to post their opinions, suggestions and the information they know to add on the original piece of information. This can also promote social connections which is really beneficial.
